I am currently reading...

Please summarize the book you are currently reading.  Be sure to include title, author, story elements (character, setting, plot), inferences, predictions, or other information you think your classmates would find interesting.  This is an excellent way to spread the word about books your classmates might like to read.

  1. I am reading "Because of Mr. Terupt" by Rob Buyea (pronounced Boo-yeah, I found this out by visiting the author's website). This is a book nominated for the Kentucky Bluegrass Award (KBA) that Mrs. Hill has purchased for our library. I chose the book to read-aloud to the class after we finish Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, and I decided to read it myself first. The book is about a new teacher, Mr. Terupt, and his fifth-grade class. I think it is interesting because the story is told from different students' perspectives, or points of view. Each student tells the same parts of a story, but the story often happens differently according to who the narrator is. So, the book is written in 1st person POV, but with 6 different authors! Very cool! I can't summarize anymore without giving away our next read-aloud, so you will have to wait and 'read what happens'. ;)
